Finding a Medical Practitioner to sign your medical marijuana form can be a difficult process as a lot of doctors don’t have adequate knowledge to feel comfortable in signing a prescription as the College of Physicians is slow in approving the value of Medical Marijuana.
I was fortunate enough to have one of the 6 doctors in Calgary who prescribed medical marijuana as my Family Doctor. With our twenty plus year medical history getting my medical marijuana prescription was the next step for my pain management regime.
Update June 2018: My Family Doctor was punished by the Alberta College of Surgeons and Physicians because she prescribed cannabis to chronic pain patients and she is no longer able to prescribe. The Alberta College of Surgeons and Physicians is archaic and needs to move into the late 1800’s to catch up!
Harvest Medicine has a good patient reputation, great education resources and you can do your appointment online, which is great for low mobility or rural patients! Typical patients have to go 4 times a year. (that’s how they make money)
Caleo Health has pain management clinics and a medical cannabis clinic. I only have to see them once a year as I see other Doctors there for pain management.
