Experiments in Growing

We are always searching for the best way to grow our Medicinal Cannabis and improve our output with increased Cannabinoids and Terpenes.

We look at dispelling old school growing techniques and we question why we are doing things with are they necessary? Will that improve quality?

  1. Lights: in the old days everything was HPS and MHS ( we still use MHS for veg plants). HPS has a light spectrum that flowering cannabis likes, but it creates heat (if your growing in a basement its a good thing) and power is expensive.

Ceramic Metal Halide lights , have a good light spectrum, but there is intense heat at the central point of focus. CMH lights add a nice mix to an LED arrangement that the plants rotate through.

COB LED’s: we have tested 300 W and 600W versions, the 300w has the ballast on board which creates heat in the grow room. The 600W has moveable ballasts that can be placed in or out of the room. The spectrum can be different for each COB so check to see what it is, a mix works very well! We use the 300W with MHS in the veg room.

Spider Farmer LEDs work very well and are energy efficient reducing electrical costs. We started with one and then 2, to replace the HPS in the flower room.

Clones like grow lights, fluorescent sticks; lights that are not intense. If you can hold the bulb in your hand, cool touch work best.
